Coming up on a year ago, I migrated Hates The Internet from Wordpress to Drupal and, to be honest, kind of forgot about it for a while. I always meant to pop in and do a little rearranging, but could never seem to find the time. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I finally realized exactly how lazy I was being and decided it was high time to just dive in and git 'er done. I didn't really do too much tinkering under the hood, that's a project for a full-on weekend geekout, but I did manage to get quite a few things crossed off my ever expanding to do list.
What's Changed?
Navigation
One of the first things I'm sure you'd noticed is that the site navigation is actually useful now in that it can take you to more places than just the museum and home. The architecture I'm using now is more or less what I gave up when I switched to Wordpress from my home-rolled CMS but, thanks to the power of Drupal, I can finally have my cake and eat it too.
Museum
Here I exposed a few of the museum's taxonomies so you should find it a lot easier to browser around as well as drill down to specific pieces. Admittedly there's not much there now but I have a metric assload of stuff stil to add and, now that it's working more or less as intended, I can finally get back to it. Keep your eyes peeled.
Beer
Yes, friends, the beer reviews are on their way back. As with the museum, I exposed a couple taxonomies in an attempt to make the section somewhat intuitive to navigate. I still have many more reviews to port over from the old Wordpress days, and it's not like I quit drinking or anything, so keep your whistle unwhet in anticipation of some new hotness and a bunch of old favourites.
The Last Mile
My biggest problem is I tend to put my shiny objects aside when I devise of shinier ones, so there were a lot of little taps and nudges to bring things in line but ultimately I've wound up with a toy I think I'm going to want to play with more often and I learned that life's easier if you never leave anything unfini
